FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

TEMPORARY IMPORTATION

Temporary Importation is currently only approved for the recognized categories listed below. Any importer who has a contract with the Government or the Oil Joint venture Companies can apply for temporary importation of other high valued and or sophisticated equipment, providing that temporary importation of such equipment is clearly mentioned as a condition of their contract.

Recognized categories for Temporary Importation:

  • Aircraft
  • Ships / Vessels & Boats
  • Barges / Pontoons, Tugs for Oil Exploration or Approved Projects
  • Dredgers on hire for soil erosion projects or oil drilling operations etc.
  • Oil Rigs & Accessories
  • Super Cranes used for Petrochemical Construction or Oil Exploration related work.

If you wish to temporarily import equipment that is not listed above, please contact Creseada International Limited who will enquire on the possibility of obtaining an exceptional approval. We would emphasis that the shipment of goods under temporary importation should not be effected unless approval has been obtained from Customs Headquarters – Abuja. Any cargo that is shipped without either pre-shipment inspection or Form M under the expectation of temporary importation approval may be subject to severe clearance delays upon arrival in Nigeria, should approval not be granted, such cargo requires the personal approval of the Honorable Minister of Finance for destination inspection.
