Q: What is a form M?
Any person/importer intending to import physical goods into Nigeria shall in the first instance process Form ‘M’ through any Authorized dealer bank in Nigeria irrespective of the value and whether or not payment is involved.
The form M should be considered similar to an import licence.
You must NOT under any circumstances ship without this document being in place.
Q: Whose responsibility is it to apply for the form M?
The responsibility for the application lays with the importer of the goods not the shipper.
Q: Do I need to quote the form M number on shipping documents?
Yes the form M number must be on all shipping documents a list of the documents required to accompany the goods is set out below. View Documents Required for Importation.
Q: Are there any exceptions to the form M?
Yes however these are fairly limited and you should contact your nearest Creseada Office for clarification as goods arriving without a form M and not exempt could be liable for seizure
